Place: CBAA Studio in Rockledge, 566 Barton Blvd, Suite 3
Instructor: Pat Bowlds, Art Director, Suntree Country Club

The knowledge of perspective is invaluable to the artist and is fundamental to all good paintings and drawings.  This six-lesson series will improve your artwork immensely and lay the foundation for future projects you may have felt were beyond your ability. It is open to artists of all media, but the classes will be taught using pencil, pen, and watercolor.  In this course, you will learn all the secrets needed to make your paintings look 3-dimensional including aerial and linear perspective as well as overlap and size and shape variations.  With this very practical approach, you will learn and apply the basics using fun and interesting projects.  Subjects will include bottles, vases, books, fields, streams, roads and buildings.  We will also tackle complex features of buildings including roofs, chimneys, doors, windows, arches, and stairs. As a very special project, you may draw and paint your own home or a building of your choice.
For this class, you will need a large sketch pad (14" x 17" or larger), pencils (2B and HB), a pen with waterproof and archival ink (black or sepia, a gum eraser, a small T-square, a transparent ruler, and your choice of painting supplies for your media.

The fee for the six-class series is $72 and may be paid in two installments of $36.
To enroll, send an email to Pat Bowlds at pbowlds@gmail.com or call her at (321) 633-9712.

Richard Krutenat is offering a four week class in Perspectives in Art beginning Dec. 3. "Perspective is fundamental to the process of creating the suggestion of 3-dimensions in a two dimensional plane. We will explore the three basic forms of perspective and how they are used effectively. In addition we will discuss drama in art and how it has been achieved by using some examples of traditional classical art. Students can analyze one example of classical art that has all three forms and drama and identify how and where the artist has used perspective and drama.
We will cover linear, aerial and detail perspective and drama in art. In the classroom we will practice using one point and two point perspective. We will delve into conic sections from various angles to show how cylindrical objects change as the viewpoint changes."
The basic tools needed are pencils, straight edge (preferably a transparent one), paper of your choice (newsprint is good), and several soft erasers. This class will be held for approximately four weeks in our studio on Wednesdays beginning at 9:30 AM. Each session is $12.00. Register by calling Richard at 452-1906, dr.rk1934@yahoo.com, or calling the studio.
