Dear Members and Friends of CBAA

A raffle to benefit the Scholarship Fund was held at the Heritage Isle Show. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to members, Robert Koeppel and Suzanne Frank for their generous donation of original art. Between Robert's painting and Suzanne's sculpture a tidy $170 was raised for our Scholarship fund! Those holding the winning raffle tickets were CBAA member Clyde Mann (Suzanne's sculpture) and Mike Farrell of Rockledge (Robert's painting) Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who purchased tickets.
CBAA also invited 10 guest artists for the first time this year. Five students each from Viera and Rockledge High Schools were invited to exhibit a piece of original art. Judge, Nancy Dillen reviewed their work and selected an abstract titled "Life Changes" by Viera student Christine Pilcher to receive the award certificate that came with a $50 gift certificate to Ralph's, Art Supply of Melbourne art store. Congratulations Christine! If you were not able to visit the show you really missed out on seeing how talented and creative these young people are. I had the pleasure of meeting several of them as they visited the show with their families and it was great to see how proud they were of their work and how grateful they were for the opportunity to show it to the community. Submitted by Helen Wheatley.

Don't for get the CBAA Members Christmas Party on Dec 6th at El Charo Restaurant in Cocoa. Call Cryil Eisen at 453-4821 to RSVP!

Just a reminder that Thurs. at 1pm at studio we will have a Planning committee meeting. Items for discussion are reviewing upcoming events, participation in Rockledge show or having our own spring show, ideas for fall 2009, broadening our art classes, encouraging new members participation and any other item you may wish to add. Hope to see you. Ruth

Classes

____________________________________________________________________

Richard Krutenat is offering a four week class in Perspectives in Art beginning Dec. 3. "Perspective is fundamental to the process of creating the suggestion of 3-dimensions in a two dimensional plane. We will explore the three basic forms of perspective and how they are used effectively. In addition we will discuss drama in art and how it has been achieved by using some examples of traditional classical art. Students can analyze one example of classical art that has all three forms and drama and identify how and where the artist has used perspective and drama.
We will cover linear, aerial and detail perspective and drama in art. In the classroom we will practice using one point and two point perspective. We will delve into conic sections from various angles to show how cylindrical objects change as the viewpoint changes."
The basic tools needed are pencils, straight edge (preferably a transparent one), paper of your choice (newsprint is good), and several soft erasers. This class will be held for approximately four weeks in our studio on Wednesdays beginning at 9:30 AM. Each session is $12.00.
